Ndoum blames Mahama of using taxes to fund campaigns

Leader of the Progressive Peoples’ Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum has accused president Mahama of spending the tax payers’ money on his political campaigns.

Justifying his accusation upon filing his tax es at the Ghana Revenue Authority, Dr Papa Kwesi Ndoum argued that there is substantial evidence that shows that President Mahama is indiscriminately using the monies of taxpayers to fuel his campaigns.

”When the brand buses with John Mahama’s photograph ostensibly with the photographs of other people we know what he is doing. It is campaigning that they are doing with my tax money,” he said,” Dr Ndoum stated.

President Mahama has been accused of his prolific engagement in public campaigns – with the recent one being the controversial bus re-branding scandal which amounted to about Ghc3.6 million – as political opponents call on the president to set the records straight with regards the source of his campaign funding.

Campaigns remain one of the major ways by which Ghanaian politicians engage their supporters ahead of general elections. Even as the 2016 general elections draw near, several political parties have already begun their political campaigns with the incumbent National Democratic Congress documented to be leading in terms of campaign intensity.
