Ghana is still the stream of Africa's democracy - Mahama

President Mahama says Ghana continues to be the Beacon of Africa’s democracy
 The 59th Independence Day celebration was dubbed, “Investing in the Youth for Ghana’s Transformation.”
The event saw the the presidents of Kenya and Guinea Bissau, Uhuru Kenyatta and José Mário Vaz as special guests of honour

President John Dramani Mahama has lauded Ghana as a beacon of African democracy stating that several African economies are aspiring for the democratic practices the nation is currently enjoying.

Speaking at Ghana’s 59th Independence Day celebration  which was dubbed, “Investing in the Youth for Ghana’s Transformation,” President Mahama argued that continues to inspire several African states considering the peace and stability in the country.
“As the first Sub-Saharan nation to be independent, Ghana inspired other nations to seek independence. Today the peace and security Ghana enjoys inspires other countries like Guinea Bissau to aspire to the same,” Mahama stated.

The special guest of honour for the parade were  the presidents of Kenya and Guinea Bissau, Uhuru Kenyatta and José Mário Vaz. Also present were the leadership of the governing National Democratic Congress  and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Notable figures present were: the Chairman of the party, Kofi Porturphy, Nana Akufo-Addo, CPP flagbearer, NDC General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, amongst others
