Ghana @ 59: Ghana is in a poor state - Nana Addo weeps

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akuffo-Addo has delivered his message ahead of the 59th Independence anniversary today, March 6, 2016 stating that Ghana is in a ”poor state” even as the nation celebrates such an event.

In a press statement shedding light on the state of Ghana at 59 years, Nana Akuffo Addo revealed:
“It is unfortunate, however, that fifty-nine (59) years after gaining our independence, Ghana, a country blessed with an abundance of human and natural resources, is in a crisis – evidenced in widespread despondency, brought about by severe hardships, rising cost of living, high levels of youth unemployment, collapsed businesses, unprecedented strikes, demonstrations and increasing poverty. Surely, this is not the vision of Ghana our ancestors had hoped for,” Nana Addo said in a statement to mark the anniversary.

Meanwhile the ongoing Independence parade has seen the blockage of some major roads in Accra.
The Director of Public Affairs of the Police Service Superintendent Cephas Arthur has said: “Traffic from the 28th February Road stretching from Labone, Osu and La heading towards the Central Business District [CBD] will be diverted on to the Lokko Street at the Castle Traffic Light to link up with the Oxford Street.”
