Kotoko midfielder Jackson Owusu undergoes successful surgery

Asante Kotoko’s midfielder, Jackson Owusu, on Monday underwent a successful surgery at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) to repair a fracture in the shin of the left leg.
The midfielder was rushed to the referral facility after he sustained the fracture in a community game at Maakro, a suburb of Kumasi.
The unfortunate development, coming barely a week to
the start of the 2016 Ghana Premier League, is a big blow to the Porcupine Warriors who would need the services of the bulky player to provide some stability at the midfield of the team.

Mr. George Kennedy, the Kotoko Operations Manager, briefing the GNA Sports in Kumasi, said it was bad news, especially so when the player was in such good shape.

The Kotoko midfielder joined the Kotoko from Chelsea last season and had been on top of his game in the pre-season matches, combining effectively with Theophilus Nyame in the midfield.

The GNA Sports gathered that the injury could lay the player off for close to about six months.

Mr. Kennedy said the Kotoko medical team would come out with an official statement on when the player is expected to return to action.

He advised players of the club to be cautious and remain disciplined even when not in camp.
