De Gea voted Man of the Match at Liverpool

Wayne Rooney stole the headlines with his late winner against Liverpool on Sunday but it was David De Gea who was voted
Manchester United’s Man of the Match by fans on Twitter.
The Spain international made a series of excellent saves at Anfield, wowing supporters when he stopped efforts from Emre Can, Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana. Those all contributed to an invaluable clean sheet and Louis van Gaal’s fourth competitive victory over the Merseysiders.
De Gea was declared United’s star man by followers of @ManUtd by taking 75 per cent of votes cast, beating off competition from his fellow nominees Rooney and the dangerous Anthony Martial.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the broadcaster who came to the same conclusion with their own Man of the March award, De Gea praised Rooney’s winner and spoke optimistically about the impact of this victory.
"They had some chances but we defended well and Wayne scored a fantastic goal to beat Liverpool," David explained. "I hope that the victory will give us a lot of confidence and hopefully we can get three or four more wins in a row."
Rooney praised his by Spanish team-mate by saying "Liverpool came on to us a lot and David made some great saves" and van Gaal was also pleased with his goalkeeper’s performance at Anfield.
"I don’t know how many saves he did but I think it was too much," the boss said. "He is always playing at a certain level, which is amazing, but I was very pleased with the way we kept our score because against Newcastle United we have given a score away two time
s."
